Tips on Meditation and the Spiritual path - idea #175

A Stroll on the Beach
You just can’t force it, sport! Yesterday a student
and I went for a stroll on one of San Diego’s
beaches. We conversed, and joked and finally she
told me what was troubling her and how she felt
about it. We promptly sat down, upon the sand, and
I metaphysically treated her feelings of being
overwhelmed and replaced them with enhanced
sensations of peace and well-being.

We finished the treatment, got up and began to walk
back to her car. She asked me if I ever had any
experiences during treatment. She explained that she
too had been giving psychic healings for years yet
had no idea what to make of the various phenomena
she experienced during each healing session.
I reminded her of what the 14th Dalai Lama of
Tibet teaches. When he’s asked about the meaning of
dreams, he consistently explains that dreams have no
meaning, in and of themselves and that according to
Buddha, the only purpose is in illustrating the
NON-graspable nature of reality. Although the images,
sounds and sensations we can experience in dreams
could be very compelling, we just can’t grasp them.
For instance we could dream of winning the lottery
but wake up, rush to our computer, go on-line and
check on our bank balance only to discover that we
are no richer. That is why the great Bo-dhi-sat-
tvas coined the phrase:
“…as non-graspable as a kingdom you
conquered in Last Night’s dream.”
Likewise, consider the sky, it does not obsess over
when it will generate it’s next rainbow or lament
the presence of clouds. Clear or cloudy, rainbows or
not, the sky is simply the sky. So yes, a high
Bo-dhi-sat-tva is passively aware of what he is
experiencing but he doesn’t invest that much meaning
into it. Whether his experiences are glorious or
grotesque his knee-jerk response is often:
“oh, look at that… hey, what’s for dinner?”
Now, listen carefully, this does not happen over night,
this does NOT happen merely because we will it. It
happens because we practice the mental yogas found
in “Quick Path to Happy Peace” twice daily as a lifestyle.
Many first year students go nuts trying to force and
contrive their growth. Folks, spiritual growth is a
lot like achieving an erection.
Yes, it’s true! If a man were to gaze at his naked
reflection in the mirror, turn his attention to his
flaccid penis and utter the words, “Up, I command
thee!” not much would happen.
Now, if his sweet heart were to approach him, acting
quite lovey-dovey, touching him in the those ways that
he really loves, the effect could be quite noticeable!
In a very similar manner if a first year Dharma student
were to command his mind: “Let go of all things, beings
and phenomena, I command thee!” the heavens would not
part, and he would not hear choirs of angels. At most
he might hear the sound of a lonely cricket in an
empty field!
How then? How can we become Bo-dhi-sat-tvas and
ascend the ten levels {or Bhumis} to full
enlightenment in this lifetime? Simple:
• download the practice text, “Quick Path to
Happy Peace,”
• receive my instructions,
• and practice them twice daily, every day, as a
lifestyle choice.
Even ten minuets of consistent spiritual practice, twice
daily, could ripen into the spiritual fruit of love, peace,
insight and happiness.
