Monday's Recommended Reading

.
From Dilgo Khyentse's
"
The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones,"
lets read from the Commentary on pg. 34-35 and
let's also read from the root text on page 203.

In today's selection from Dilgo Khyentse's commentary we can read:

"Trying to help people with
the things of this life
only fuels the fires of Sam-sa-ra.

At best, whatever satisfaction you
may bring about in these ways
will only be temporary;
it won't help anyone at the moment of death.

These, in fact, are
mistaken notions of compassion.
True compassion is to establish beings in
the deathless bliss of perfect Buddhahood."

From the Dalai Lama's
"
The Path to Enlightenment,"
lets read page 58-59 and
let's also read from the biography of
the 3rd Dalai Lama on page 205.

In today's selection the Dalai Lama explains:

"The Fist, Second, Third, Fifth and
Thirteenth Dalai Lamas all practiced widely
within all sects of Tibetan Buddhism..."

In today's selection from "The Healing Power of Love and Letting-go"
we can read:

Although I’ve won these freedoms, I am poor in
Buddha’s teachings, which are their essence.
Although I’ve entered the Dhar-ma, I
waste time with other things.

Bless me, and the foolish like me,
that we may truly make the most of these
Freedoms and Advantages that
we have received."
