From Dilgo Khyentse's
"The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones,"
lets read from the Commentary on pg. 26-27 and
let's also read from the root text on page 195.

In today's selection from Dilgo Khyentse's commentary we can read:
"We were born alone
and we will die alone.
Yet even while alone
we still have our shadow with us;
and alone after death,
our consciousness will still have with it
the shadow of our actions [karma],
good and bad.
By the time we are just about to enter the bardo,
the intermediate state between Death and [re-] birth,
it will be far too late
to begin our Dhar-ma practice.
But if we have already prepared ourselves,
if we feel confident in our practice
[due to the familiarity of repetition]
and know how to go to a Buddha-field,
there will be NO suffering in death."
From the Dalai Lama's
"The Path to Enlightenment,"
lets read page 50-51 and
let's also read from the devotional text on page 199.

In today's selection the Dalai Lama explains:
"...we must clear our mind of
preconceptions and superstition...
To study and practice Dhar-ma
on the basis of preconceptions
is like pouring pure food
into a contaminated pot;
to be inattentive
is like trying to pour food
into an overturned pot;
and to be irregular and inconsistent
in study and practice
is like pouring food into a pot
with a hole in it's base.
If we wish to gain full benefits from our efforts,
we must replace these three wrong attitudes with
openness, clarity and consistency in application. "
