Wednesday's Recommended Reading

.
From Dilgo Khyentse's
"
The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones,"
lets read from the Commentary on pg. 28-29 and
let's also read from the root text on page 197.

In today's selection from Dilgo Khyentse's commentary we can read
his quote of Pa-dam-pa Sang-ye:

" 'If you wait till you're NO longer busy,
you'll never get around to the Dhar-ma;
the moment you think of it,
quick do it...!'

So, to do something really useful
with whatever time may be left before we die,
we must turn to the Dhar-ma,
as the next root verse explains."

From the Dalai Lama's
"
The Path to Enlightenment,"
lets read page 52-53 and
let's also read from the devotional text on page 200.

In today's selection the Dalai Lama explains:

We should be constantly mindful of
the Six Recognitions:
[#1] that we are spiritually ill;
[#2] that the Enlightened Ones are doctors;

[#3] that the Dhar-ma is the medicine we need;
[#4] that the practice of the Dhar-ma is
like following a medical treatment...

[#5] that Buddha Shakyamuni was
a most kind and wise being; and
[#6] that his lineage of teachings is a
most precious and valuable
treasure for humanity."
