Nine-minute Practice




Here is a fun way to work with an easy
Nine-minute meditation that is based on
the First lesson of
the First quarter of Dharma classes.

I. Getting your Ducks in a Row
{Karmicly speaking, of course}
Recite the “Prayer of Refuge and Bodhichitta”
{on page 1} three times.

A. During the IN-breath of the first repetition
mentally recite, “Completely Letting-go.”
B. During the IN-breath of the second repetition
mentally recite, “Thank you my kind teacher.”
C. During the IN-breath of the third repetition
mentally recite, “May all beings benefit.”



II. The Four Cycles of Letting-go
{While tucking each index finger,
per the instructions
}

A. The First round.
1. Perform the “Nostril-awareness” exercise
{on page 2} for three breaths.
2. Perform the “Spontaneous Awareness-training”
exercise {on page 2} for three breaths.
3. Perform the “Contrived Renunciation-training
exercise {on page 3} for three breaths.

B. The Second round.
1. Perform the “Nostril-awareness” exercise
{on page 2} for three breaths.
2. Perform the “Spontaneous Awareness-training”
exercise {on page 2} for three breaths.
3. Perform the “Contrived Impermanence-training
exercise {on page 3} for three breaths.

C. The Third round.
1. Perform the “Nostril-awareness” exercise
{on page 2} for three breaths.
2. Perform the “Spontaneous Awareness-training”
exercise {on page 2} for three breaths.
3. Perform the “Contrived NON-graspability training
exercise {on page 3} for three breaths.

D. The Fourth round.
1. Perform the “Nostril-awareness” exercise
{on page 2} for three breaths.
2. Perform the “Spontaneous Awareness-training”
exercise {on page 2} for three breaths.
3. Perform the
Exploring Buddha’s Wisdom of Letting-go
exercise {on page 3} for three breaths.



III. Securing your Karmic Investment
{After disengaging each index finger,
per the instructions
}

A. Perform “Opening-up and Clearing-out”
{on page 4} for three breaths.

B. Perform “Bodhichitta’s Essence”
{on page 4} for three breaths.

1. During the IN-breath of the first repetition
mentally recite, “Completely Letting-go.”
2. During the IN-breath of the second repetition
mentally recite, “Thank you my kind teacher.”
3. During the IN-breath of the third repetition
mentally recite, “May all beings benefit.”
