From Dilgo Khyentse's
"The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones,"
lets read from the Commentary on pg. 48-49 and
let's also read from the root text on page 173.
In today's selection from Dilgo Khyentse's commentary we can read:
"A hidden yogi is a practitioner
who does NOT mix with other people
and become involved in worldly activities,
and who seeks neither fame nor followers.
He burns with an irresistible longing for
spiritual practice and has seized the
root of Dhar-ma -
the determination to be free from Sam-sa-ra.
Now, you might think:
'If I renounce all worldly activity now,
what will happen to me later?
How am I going to find food, lodging
and all the rest of it?'
But such deluded hesitations and anxieties could,
if you allow them,
dominate the rest of your life,
pulling the net of sam-sa-ra tighter and tighter.
As long as these inveterate
[deeply rooted] tendencies continue,
so will suffering.
You will never be a good Dhar-ma practitioner
until your are truly sick of ordinary life
and know how to be satisfied
with whatever you have."
From the Dalai Lama's
"The Path to Enlightenment,"
lets read page 72-73 and
let's also read from the biography of
the 3rd Dalai Lama on page 212.
In today's selection the First Dalai Lama explains:
"The true spiritual master [teacher]
looks upon all living beings with
thoughts of love
and shows respect to teachers of all traditions alike.
Such a one only harms delusion,
the enemy within."

In today's selection from
"The Healing Power of Love and Letting-go"
we can read:
"I have received teacher’s beneficial instructions but frequently
turn my back on them as if they were mere words.
Although I may have practiced them in a token sense, I have
been fooled by distraction.
Bless me, and all phantom beings like me, that we may extract
the Essence of the Generation and Perfection phases."
