Wednesday's Recommended Reading

.
From Dilgo Khyentse's
"
The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones,"
lets read from the Commentary on pg. 52-53 and
let's also read from the root text on page 175.

In today's selection from Dilgo Khyentse's commentary we can read:

"If you have practiced the Dhar-ma,
your life have been meaningful,
and even if you are suddenly struck and killed
by a thunderbolt this very day, you
need have NO regrets...

Now, you may have wasted you life so far;
but once you start to practice the Dhar-ma, then ,
however long you live,
every instant of every day

will be an immeasurably precious chance to
be with your teacher,
to receive his instructions,
and to practice them wholeheartedly
until the day of your death.

Then you will know clearly that
there is nothing more worthwhile then
the Dhar-ma and that practicing it to
perfect yourself is a precious investment for
this life and all your lives to come."

From the Dalai Lama's
"
The Path to Enlightenment,"
lets read page 76-77 and
let's also read from the biography of
the 3rd Dalai Lama on page 214.

In today's selection the 14th Dalai Lama explains:

"We are all very fortunate to
have been born in THIS present age.

A human life in this era is extremely
meaningful and powerful, being capable of
achieving any goal including the
exalted state of omniscient enlightenment.

When we consider this fact, we
realize that we have a most
precious opportunity before us, and
that if we waste it we
will suffer a great loss.

The value of recognizing the freedoms and
endowments is that one will spontaneously
experience the wish to use one's life in
the pursuit of a meaningful existence."

In today's selection from
"The Healing Power of Love and Letting-go"
we can read:

"I explore how my kind teacher could be
Chen-re-zig, but in my obstinacy I
disregard his guidance.

I have considered how each being could
have been my kind parent, but
in bad temper, I still abuse
even my Dhar-ma companions.

Bless me, and those with
bad Kar-ma like me, that we may
truly follow teacher with
humble, steadfast discipline,

flexible in mind and deed,
in this life and all others."
