Everything's Perfect?

.

There is a big fat lie that “Everything is perfect” it’s NOT!

Every year men beat women to death,
every year mother’s kill their own children,
every day the air, the earth and the sea are poisoned,
and every day countless animals suffer needlessly in factory farms.

You’d have to be a myopic as Lois Lane to not see
just how grotesquely imperfect our world is.

So, rather than spinning yarns to protect our self esteem and
our laziness masquerading as spirituality,
let’s actually take the skillful action required
to become the people that we were born to be.

There is no shortage of fools,
even “spiritual” ones.

Many fools are driven by either grandiose illusions that
#1 their “great spiritual development” renders them
immune to cause and effect while
#2 other fools are determined to do the right thing out of FEAR of
karmic retribution.
In fact they’ll go so far as to consider their fear to be a Virtue!

We on the Bodhisattva path,
practice the two Bodhichitta’s of Love and Letting-go.

On one hand, Letting-go frees us from the tyranny of impulse
and love frees us from the potential aloofness of letting-go.

However, on the other hand, Love helps us to do the right thing
and Letting-go helps us to prevent our love from becoming a straight jacket
that smothers or manipulates others.

Come let us quickly, easily and enjoyably
master Buddha’s mental yogas.

How are we Enlightened?

.

How do we experience the Liberation that Buddha offers us?
By mastering his mental yogas {or techniques} of:
• Devotion,
• Awareness,
• Love and
• Letting-go.

Mastering his mental yogas,” what could that mean?
Think of it this way; let’s pretend there are three ways we can lead our lives:
• as Buddhas,
• as Bo-dhi-sat-tvas or
• as Boobs!

What’s a Boob?
Homer Simpson is a great example of leading one’s life as a Boob.
The poor fellow has absolutely NO impulse control.

When he feels the impulse to strangle Bart, he does so,
without even a moment’s hesitation.
Homer Simpson is a complete slave to his darker impulses
such as despair, rage and panic,

and servitude to one’s darker impulses
is what being a boob is all about.

What then is a Bodhisattva?
Just as Neo and the gang were subversive to the matrix,
likewise a Bo-dhi-sat-tva rebels against the tyranny of their darker impulses.
But how do they do that?

#1 They seek a teacher to lead them to full enlightenment.
#2 They receive his teachings of Buddha’s various mental yogas.
#3 They apply his instructions at least twice a day, EVERY day.

Alright, then what’s the difference between a Bo-dhi-sat-tva and a Buddha?
Mastery; what a Bo-dhi-sat-tva does with great effort and middling competency
a Buddha is able to do spontaneously, habitually, easily and effectively.

Sounds good, sign me up!
So how is it that a Bo-dhi-sat-tva can go from boob to Buddha
in less then 11 months?

By relying upon the right teacher
and the right teachings
as well as by enthusiastically doing his homework twice a day,
every day.

How are we to know which teacher and which teachings are the most impowered?
There is only ONE way to know.
• Prestige – won’t tell us.
• Beauty – won’t tell us.
• Fame – won’t tell us.
• Logic – won’t tell us.
• Resume – won’t tell us.
• Credentials – won’t tell us.
• Letters of recommendation – won’t tell us.

How then,
how are we to know?

#1 Find a teacher who offers full enlightenment in 11 months or less.
#2 Give him the benefit of the doubt by suspending judgment.
#3 Receive his first lesson.
#4 Follow his instructions, that is, do your homework every morning and
every night for 7 consecutive days…

#5 Notice the results of enthusiastically applying his instructions.
#6 If you got bad results, then find a new teacher.
#7 If you got good results, then attend your teacher’s next class.

Your empowered journey to enlightenment begins by
learning Buddha’s four mental yogas.

Two Fools and a Wise Man

.

The First fool is controlled by his emotions and is their slave.
The Second boob ignores his emotions and quickly becomes their victom.
Although a wise Bodhisattva is Aware of his emotions he chooses
NOT to let them control his choices, words or actions.

Rather, relying upon his will
he applies Buddha’s techniques that transform:
• fear into peace,
• anger into love and
• sadness into joy.

Once he accomplishes such mastery of these techniques,
that he is able to perform them
spontaneously, habitually, easily and effectively, then he is a Buddha.
It does not have to take long at all.

The Wednesday series of webinars begins in just 2 weeks.

May you and yours be
happy and healthy!

Friday's Recommended Reading

.
From Dilgo Khyentse's
"
The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones,"
lets read from the Commentary on pg. 54-57 and
let's also read from the root text on page 177.

In today's selection from Dilgo Khyentse's commentary we can read:

"Chen-re-zig is a fully enlightened Buddha who,
in order to benefit beings,
takes on the form of a Bo-dhi-sat-tva.

All the Buddhas have but one nature,
and their compassion is embodied in Chen-re-zig.

As the embodiment of the compassion of
all the Buddhas, Chen-re-zig is
at the same time the source of
all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas,

since compassion is
the very root of enlightenment.

Chen-re-zig is compassion itself
in the form of a deity.

Chen-re-zig is the Buddha,
Chen-re-zig is the Dharma,
Chen-re-zig is the Sangha;

Chen-re-zig is the Guru,
Chen-re-zig is the Yidam,
Chen-re-zig is the Dakini;

Chen-re-zig is the Dhar-ma-ka-ya,
Chen-re-zig is the Sam-bho-ga-ka-ya,
Chen-re-zig is the Nir-ma-na-ka-ya;

Chen-re-zig is A-mi-ta-bha,
Chen-re-zig is Guru Rinpoche,
Chen-re-zig is Arya Tara;

and above all
Chen-re-zig is our own Root Teacher.

Like a hundred streams
passing under a single bridge,
Chen-re-zig is the union of all the Buddahs.

To receive his blessings
is to receive the blessings of all the Buddhas,
and to realize his nature
is to realize the nature of all the Buddhas."

From the Dalai Lama's
"
The Path to Enlightenment,"
lets read page 78-79 and
let's also read from the biography of
the 3rd Dalai Lama on page 215.

In today's selection the 14th Dalai Lama explains:

"Three principal karmic causes must be cultivated
if one hopes to regain human rebirth after death:

[1] pure ethical discipline,
[2] the practice of the Six-perfections, and
[3] strong spiritual aspirations."

In today's selection from
"The Healing Power of Love and Letting-go"
we can pray:

"May I nurture even greater gratitude &
enthusiasm for Buddha, his Teachings &
his highly accomplished Students
such as my Lama and may I explore how

they could be personifications of
the body, speech and mind of Chen-re-zig!

May I NEVER kill, rape, rob, deceive,
intoxicate or harm anyone!
May I Take all sufferings and Give every
blessing by accomplishing the

Six-perfections of Giving, Morality, Patience,
Zeal, Awareness and the Wisdom of Letting-go.

May I habitually, spontaneously, respectfully and
gratefully: give my teacher the
benefit of the doubt, follow his instructions and
notice their results,
in the Most wonderful way!"
