Other's Humility

.

Spiritually speaking,
what is it that could separate
the men from the boys?

How we react to other’s:
• humility,
• vulnerability,
• selflessness and
• lack of pretence
speaks volumes about our spiritual development.

I was just in Junior High School when “The Empire Strikes Back” was first released,
how old were you?
Could you recall Luke’s first encounter with Yoda,
in the swamps of Degobah?

Like many high, spiritual guides,
Yoda always made sure to test an applicant,
before accepting him as a student.

How did Yoda get Luke to quickly reveal his character?
He did so by acting:
• humble,
• vulnerable,
• silly and
• playful;
• without any sense of self, dignity, or pretence.

What was Luke’s reaction?
It was selfishness, impatience, and despair.

In this age, many spiritual dabbler’s are more interested in teaching the path
then in actually accomplishing it.
Many are more prone to deny the benefit of the doubt,
rather than give it.

Many are more prone to behave in a predatory manner
then in a nurturing one.
Come, let us tread wisely upon the spiritual path.

Apology

.

<

A true apology requires the love to tend to another’s emotions and
the courage to allow ourselves to feel the pain of
vulnerability, guilt, and shame with a dash of humiliation.

No we do not apologize to make ourselves feel better,
but to make the person that we are addressing, feel better.

Let us never
• justify,
• minimize or
• rationalize
our actions that cause another pain.

Rather lets us enthusiastically express both regret for the suffering we generated
as well as resolve to err no more.

A true apology means that we’re really putting our comfort out there
and meeting the needs of another.

Does even the most gut wrenching apology guarantee
that the offended party will take the high road?
No, they may be cruel, petty and vindictive.
Then why, why should we put ourselves out there?

Because spiritual evolution demands
that we meet the needs of others…
especially when it’s inconvenient.

The Wednesday series of webinars begins in just 2 weeks.

May you and yours be
happy and healthy!
