QUESTION:
What is “Dhar-ma?”
ANSWER:
Literally “Dhar-ma” means “Phenomena,” as in the phrase
“The Enlightened One’s teachings about the
ultimate nature of all Phenomena that could liberate one
from the tyranny of Sufferings and their Causes.”
Now the problem with that sentence
is that it does NOT fall trippingly from the tongue,
so it was shortened to
“Enlightened One’s Phenomena”
which translates into the Sanskrit as
“Buddha Dharma.”
