Feeling Overwhelmed ?

.

Share

Feeling overwhelmed is NOT a spiritual indictment.
It is part of a natural, physiological phenomena.
Come, let us consider our brain stem, that bit of neurology that
we have in common with every:
• primate,
• mammal, and
• reptile.

BrainStem

The brainstem is a simple fellow.
Whenever he encounters any thing, being or phenomena he asks
the same five questions:

#1 – do I F*ck it?
#2 – do I Feed on it?
#3 – do I Fight it?
#4 – do I Flee from it?
#5 – do I Faint before it?

When we experience an overpowering fatigue, that’s
disproportional to our apparent circumstance; what
we have could be a physiological stress response; a
fainting {if you will} before the overwhelming adversary of
unmet physical NEEDS.

BrainStem

What are the some of the factors that could contribute to
that kind of overwhelming stress?

#1 – a weakened immune system
#2 – poor sleep habits
{it’s been said that the sleep we get before midnight is the most productive}

good night’s sleep

#3 – poor air quality and consumption
{yes, exercising outside, especially when it’s cold can be a challenge, so
poke your head outside a least once every waking hour or two and
take a couple deep breaths of fresh air
}

deep breathing

#4 – poor water quality and consumption
{ 8+ glasses of the purest water you can find, every day}
#5 – Poor nutrition
{I strenuously recommend a Paleolithic diet without ANY:
• grains,
• legumes [ie beans],
• pulses [ie lentles] or
• tubors [ie potatoes].
This can be an omnivorous diet like the “Paleo Diet” or
a low fat raw vegan diet like the “80-10-10 Diet” both
of which are explained for free on YouTube.
}

apple

#6 – insufficient exercise
{even just the Ten Traditional Chinese isometrics every morning is good, and
if you could supplement that with wind sprints and/or
cardiovascular calisthenics such as:
• jumping-squats,
• jumping-lunges,
• arm-circles
• grass-hoppers or
• mountain-climbers,
that would be even better
}

#7 – poor sex life
{we are sexual beings, whether we “get it on” with
our life partner, or our selves; the
quality of our pleasure is integral to our well-being
}

sex

#8 – poor love life
{we have a deep biological need to have fulfilling relationships. So
let’s make every effort to make the most of our current relationship. IF
it can’t be fixed, let’s find a way to lovingly move on, so
both us and our former partner can
make space for even more compatible partners
}

#9 – our social life
{we NEED fulfilling friendships, if
they’re one-sided then we will quickly find ourselves drained both
physically and emotionally.
}

dracula

#10 – our limiting beliefs
{letting go of limiting beliefs as they manifest
[not unlike whack-a-mole] is a crucial
part of Buddha’s path of Awareness and Letting-go
}

whack-a-mole

#11 – poor self talk
{this could often reveal our:
• limiting,
• disempowering and
• destructive beliefs
}

#12 – oppressive goals
{yes it can be good to have LONG-term goals but
if they are not mitigated by MID-term and even SHORT-term goals then
they can truly be overwhelming.

It’s VERY important that we do NOT make the mistake of
putting our happiness so far out side of us, way off into the future.
For that could increase our stress and our sadness.
}

stress

#13 – impotent and flaccid spirituality
{our spiritual practices MUST be practical and transformative or
we are just wasting our time and resources
