True NON-sectarianism

.

There is an unfortunate myth that…

…says to be nonsectarian,
one must study each teaching,
according to it’s lineage
and preserve it’s traditional
explanation and practice… perfectly.

Folks, that has nothing to do with NON-sectarianism
as taught by that great Rime Manipa
{NON-sectarian devotee of the Buddha of Compassion},
Karma Chagme who wrote:

All the innumerable and profound teachings, such as
Mahamudra and Dzogchen, which are
decisive and unmistaken in each root text, are
indispensable when teaching disciples who will
“hold” the Dharma-lineages.

BUT for personal practice, for…

…the sake of the future, it is MORE profound to
condense them all into one.

To the contrary, Karma Chagme taught that
we were to blend all the…

…teachings we have received and
practice their essence.

For the test of the teachings is NOT
whether they are traditional or not, BUT rather
the degree of their effectiveness.

All the members of Tibet’s four sects of Tantric Buddhism
laud Lama Dromtonpa the “Dharma heir” of Atisha.
But did you know that he taught,

Dharma is whatever works!” ?

Folks whether you’re reading
the Sutta of the Kalama’s Dilemma
from the Sutta Pitaka
or the Shastras of the Great Saints
the standard is the same... efficacy!

This is also inferred later in the quote
when it’s author explains
that there are two ways to apply Buddha’s teachings.

The FIRST insures sectarian “purity”
while the SECOND insures spiritual accomplishment.
I want the second,
I want to master Buddha’s mental yogas of:

• Devotion,
• Awareness,
• Love and
• Letting-go

to such a degree
that I am able to practice them:

• spontaneously,
• habitually,
• easily and
• effectively.
How about you?

Then come,
let us dispense with the tight assed foolishness that
is sectarianism, and instead practice the essence of
all Buddha taught.
